FPL Draft ranks: Gameweek 14

Ranks! It looks like Gameweek 14 in the Premier League is derby weekend with no less than six teams facing local rivals on a genuinely Super Sunday.

Such games distort rankings, meaning FPL favourites Mohamed Salah, Christian Eriksen and Gylfi Sigurdsson don’t figure as highly as they should due to the unpredictability of a local derby.

Having said that, Chelsea face lowly Fulham, giving them the perfect opportunity to avenge the defeat in their latest London derby against Spurs last weekend. If you’re facing a Chelsea or (as always) a Manchester City attacker in your match up this week, you could be in for a tough ride.

Here’s my first go at some FPL ranks. Enjoy.

Goalkeepers

GK ranks GW14

Kepa the ‘keeper takes the number one spot this time around. Fulham should provide more of an attacking threat under Claudio Ranieri but Chelsea should still have to much for them. Plus, there is absolutely no way the will defend as badly as they did last Saturday.

Rui Patricio, Mat Ryan and Jonas Lossl could be great options due to high save rates coupled with a decent chance for a clean sheet.

Defenders

DEF ranks GW14

Two out of two for the Chelsea boys so far. Marcos Alonso is due an attacking return (or two) and the fixture against Fulham provides the ideal opportunity this week.

You’d expect a Man City clean sheet once more, meaning owning Kyle Walker and whoever lines up at centre back should be a good move.

You can also do worse than owning a Crystal Palace defender. They proved last week at Old Trafford that they can defend and should be up to the aerial onslaught provided by Burnley.

Midfielders

MID ranks GW14

Elite midfielders are sparse this season. One you can always rely on, however, is David Silva. His sparkling form has ensured that Kevin De Bruyne hasn’t been missed as much as he might have been.

Staying with City, Bernardo Silva’s rank would be much higher if his fitness is guaranteed. He should make it on Saturday and you’d think he’d slot straight back into the lineup.

Wilfried Zaha is due a performance while James Maddison will be looking for a zero to hero story after last week’s misdemeanours.

Kenedy and Victor Camarasa are my favourite differentials of the week.

Forwards

FWD ranks GW 14

If you’re due to face Eden Hazard in your Fantrax match up this week, you may want to find a sofa to hide behind at midday on Sunday.

The one saving grace for a Hazard non-owner is the rumours of his continuing fitness struggles. However, Mauricio Sarri has sought to dampen those rumours this week, stating that his prized asset should be available. If he starts, Hazard should be the top scoring player in Fantrax this Gameweek.

Key pass hungry Willian should also hit high figures this weekend while owning any of City’s front three should pay dividends.

Steve Mounie, Salomon Rondon and Sam Vokes could provide bonus paydays for your draft team this week.
