Differential Potential – Gameweek 27

Goalkeeper

Martin Dubravka 41%

It feels like a cop out to choose the goalkeeper facing Huddersfield. Regardless, I’ve gone for Martin Dubravka. Newcastle’s stopper puts up good numbers without clean sheets but there’s a good chance of a blank for him this week.

GW27 score: 9 points

Defenders

Fabian Schar 49%

Last time we tipped Fabian Schar, it went quite well. We can’t expect another brace and a clean sheet but Schar is consistently putting up good defensive numbers along with a few attacking returns. The visit of Huddersfield provides another good chance to keep up his run.

GW27 score: 17.25 points

Adam Masina 2%

Another suspension for card king Holebas means another opportunity for attacking full back Adam Masina. Any Watford defender is worth a punt this week but Masina’s low ownership as well as a few handy attributes make him my pick. Standing at six foot and two inches, Masina is built for the aerial bombardment that will no doubt be thrown at him when facing Cardiff’s Callum Paterson and with his Greek team mate watching from the stands, the stand-in full back should get a share of the set pieces.

Aaron Cresswell 26%

An old favourite two years ago, Aaron Cresswell’s FPL value has dramatically declined recently. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly why but the former assist king is yet to score or set a goal up in his 14 appearances this season. Fulham at home in GW27 is a good chance to put things right.

Midfielders

Victor Camarasa 51%

No James Ward Prowse for us this week! It wouldn’t be a differential eleven without JWP or Victor Camarasa making an appearance and the Spaniard gets the call up this week. Camarasa has struggled for fitness since the heavy Chrismas schedule but assisted from the bench against Southampton in GW26 and has had two weeks off to get back to his best. Cardiff are a much better attacking outfit with Camarasa in the side and I fully expect him to return more good figures against Watford this week.

Robert Snodgrass 45%

The arrival of Samir Nasri appeared to spell the end for Robert Snodgrass in this West Ham side. However, the Scot has muscled his way back into Manuel Pellegrini’s thoughts and Friday’s fixture versus Fulham should give Snoddy a great chance to get some more assists on the board.

GW27 score: 23.5 points

Harvey Barnes 19%

The Fashionable differential. Harvey Barnes has been tipped by many in the FPL community and it’s easy to see why. Barnes puts up good figures in the Fantrax game without scoring or assisting and should have got himself on the scoresheet at Wembley in GW26. Crystal Palace at home with 19% ownership? No brainer.

GW27 score: 19 points

Jefferson Lerma 9%

It’s rare that I pick the unfashionable point scorers so here it is. Jefferson Lerma is hardly the first name on an FPL team sheet but the diminutive Colombian puts up good numbers in Fantrax thanks to tackles and interceptions. Facing Wolves this week, Lerma should find himself busy against Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho.

GW27 score: -0.5

Forwards

Solomon Rondon 58%

The old faithful at home to Huddersfield. No brainer.

GW27 score: 28.5 points

Adama Diakhaby 1%

It’s easy to pick the likes of Ashley Barnes and Dwight McNeil every week so here’s something a little different. Although a change in management at Huddersfield hasn’t meant a change in fortunes, it has meant a change up top as Adama Diakhaby takes Steve Mounie’s place as Town’s “striker”. If the combative Diakhaby (a player of similar stature to Mounie) can put up similar numbers, he’ll be a worthwhile pick. It’s a gamble, but a gamble to consider in deeper leagues.

GW27 score: 0 points

Ashley Barnes 50%

I know what I just said in the previous post. However, Ashley Barnes has produced the goods consistently for our differential eleven and while his ownership is below 60%, I just can’t help myself. The Canadian will, no doubt, be up for the battle this week against the likes of Jan Vertonghen and Davinson Sanchez.
